Janice and Hannah educate Gen Z about invasives

Janice, who teaches about environmental topics in a K-12 program, sent FONTT the following email.

Hannah, her student, sent along a link to an article that she thought our readers might find useful.

Good afternoon,

I’m reaching out to share some positive feedback on the Friends of Native Trees in Takoma website.

My name is Janice, and I’m currently teaching a k-12 program focused on environmental topics. I’ve been searching for lesson materials on natural environment protection and came across the FONTT Remove Invasive Plants page and wanted to thank you for putting this together. The information here has been a valuable asset in helping me explain the dangers invasive species pose to native habitats and species and how to identify them.

As a thank you, one of my students helping me compile resources, Hannah, suggested I pass along an article she found, “A Student’s Guide to Invasive Species” www.kremp.com/pages/a-students-guide-to-invasive-species.

I always encourage my students to conduct their own research and share the information they discover as a way to inspire them to become informed and engaged environmental stewards. The class loved learning the basics of preventing invasive species spread and she thought it might be a beneficial addition to your materials

If you are able to include it, would you mind letting me know? I know it would mean a lot to her, and it would be a wonderful example of how young people can have a positive impact 🙂
